Empowering Women in Tech – Learn to Code

Learning to Code

Having launched Mama Loves Tech social media marketing business, I am one of many women learning to code, therefore I was very interested to hear about Girls Who Code, as referenced in this excellent article by Inman News.

Girls Who Code was founded by New York lawyer, Reshma Saujani because she wants more women to break into tech and entrepreneurship. Girls Who Code runs an 8 week course for girls aged 13 to 17 to teach them to code and the basics of robotics and webdesign. As a woman learning to code with a daughter, it makes me want to move to NY!  Reshma is making a keynote speech, “Women Hold Up Half the Sky” at Real Estate Connect New York City, which takes place Jan. 16-18 at the Grand Hyatt New York. In the US they also have the excellent Women 2.0 which has recently launched its Founder Fridays in London.

The Code Academy can take you from novice to building your own website by learning to code online for FREE! We also have Women in Tech run by Maggie Berry here in the UK @womenintech. Maybe we need a Girls Who Code here in the UK. If there is one, let me know!!
